I have never heard about such an app-updating issue. All the mobile and
desktop apps are automatically updated from the stores (until this
default function is enabled). Please check this Microsoft Store setting.

Thank you for bringing this up. We recognize that displaying building
materials on the BIMx cut plane would be valuable. There are some
technical challenges that we plan to explore. This idea is under
consideration.
We just released Customizable Cut Plane for BIMx Mobile and Desktop
today. A section/elevation drawing is no longer required for a vertical
3D cut. Please give it a try, and let us know what you think on the BIMx
