Security Update for Archicad 22-25 and License Manager Tool

Earlier this year, Microsoft announced that they will soon disable TLS 1.0 and 1.1 internet security protocol in Windows; you can read more about this change here.

The Security Update for Archicad 22-25 and License Manager Tool addresses earlier versions, which still use TLS 1.0. It updates Archicad 22 – Archicad 25 Update 3 and License Manager Tool to TLS 1.2 to ensure your software's continued security and functionality.

Archicad 25 Update 4 and newer already use TLS 1.2. If this or a newer version is installed, the License Manager Tool is also current.

This change impacts only our Windows users, so no action is required from users on macOS.

Although Microsoft did not announce the date of the deprecation of the old protocols, we estimate that the users will have one to two months to install the update after its release without experiencing any issues.

The security update has one global installer that updates all Archicad 22 – Archicad 25 Update 3 versions, localizations, and License Manager Tool. If you have several affected Archicad versions on your computer, you will need to run the update only once.

Download the update hereThe installer is also available in the Updates section of our website.

The Archicad 22 – Archicad 25 Update 3 users who enabled the automatic Check for Updates feature will be notified about this release.

Below, please see the list of functions that will not work after the TLS 1.0 and 1.1 deprecation if the update is not installed.

Functions that will not work after the deprecation of the old TLS protocols

Users cannot log in with Graphisoft ID

Affects versions: Archicad 22 - Archicad 25 Update 3

The Start Archicad dialog will indicate that Archicad cannot connect to the Graphisoft ID server:

Trying to sign in with Graphisoft ID from the Archicad Help menu or Status Bar (bottom right of your screen) will give the same error in a pop-up:

Note: Starting with Archicad 25, users must sign in with their Graphisoft ID to access their license. In prior versions, it was necessary only to get SSA/Forward benefits.

BIMx models cannot be uploaded

Affects versions: Archicad 17 - Archicad 25 Update 3

BIMx Hyper-model cannot be published without a Graphisoft ID login.

WIBU licenses cannot be activated or deactivated

Affects versions: Archicad 22 - Archicad 25 Update 3

A server communication error appears when proceeding from the License Manager Tool Welcome page and when downloading and uploading the license keys:

GSM objects cannot be uploaded to or downloaded from the BIM Components Portal

Affects versions: Archicad 16 - Archicad 25 Update 3

The validation of the Registration Number is unsuccessful:

In addition, no results are available from the Object Portal when searching for an object within the Object Tool Settings, so the object cannot be downloaded and embedded from the web. The Warning icon informs about the problem; hovering over it brings up the same error message as when validating the registration number.

Surveys cannot be downloaded, and results cannot be uploaded

Affects versions: Archicad 24 - Archicad 25 Update 3

Archicad does not detect any available surveys; it appears as though they have already been filled out:

Online Help cannot be opened

Affects versions: Archicad 17 - Archicad 25 Update 3

If Online Help is available, clicking on any UI element's Archicad Help or Help menu will redirect the user to Offline Help instead of Online Help.

If the Offline Help is not downloaded, then after clicking on the Archicad Help, a web page notifies the user about an internet access issue. There is a redirect link on the page to download the Offline Help.

While Archicad 25 Update 4 and newer already use TLS 1.2, it is important to highlight that Archicad 21 and earlier will not be updated, and the functions mentioned above will not work in these versions after the deprecation of the old TLS protocols.
