Time-out Option When Executing Incoming API Command

Josh Verran
Expert

I frequently use the Grasshopper-Archicad (GH-AC) connection for my projects.
A common issue I encounter is the prolonged loading popup, which sometimes persists for more than 10-15 minutes, eventually forcing me to quit Archicad.

To improve workflow efficiency, I propose the following enhancements for the GH-AC API:

  1. Pre-Execution Load Time Estimation: Introduce a feature where the API can predict prolonged processing times before execution begins. This would allow users to opt-out if the process is expected to take an unusually long time.

  2. Mid-Execution Interruption Option: Implement a timeout or interruption prompt after a specified duration (e.g., 5 minutes) of inactivity or prolonged processing. This would give users the option to continue waiting or terminate the process, preventing the need for a force quit.
