Problems / warning when saving a IFC-file from a floor plan

Anonymous
Not applicable
These entities
- Wall Niche Rectangular 17
- Simple Window Opening
- Simple Door Opening
creates the following error when saving a IFC-file from a floor plan view:

“some element could not be exported due to missing geometry”

All these elements are valid elements and displays correct in AC17.
And they even show up in the IFC file when viewed with Solibri and Tekla BimSight.

These elements should be exported correctly … or erroneous warnings should not be displayed.

Bug?

It is actually saying the right thing: there is missing geometry because these elements only cut holes into the Wall, but do not actually have any geometry of their own.
Still, it is probably a scenario not taken into consideration when exporting IFC files.
I will report this to Graphisoft.

Hello,

I am actually having the same problem when exporting to IFC for Riuska energy analysis.

My question is how do you know what elements are throwing the error in ArchiCAD export?

I just get the error "“some element could not be exported due to missing geometry" but i cannot figure out what elements are giving this error.

AWNSER: After the error and after the export go back to ArchiCAD, there:
File -> Info -> Session Report
Scroll down and you can see Elements not exported due to missing geometry.
Following codes are actually GlobalID numbers.
Now go to IFC manager and hit the "Find by GlobalID" (it is an magnifier glass icon with a red dot) and now you see what elements were not exported.

Hi Kaspar,

That sounds like a useful little tip.
