Creating a DXF copy

Hi all,

sorry if this seems dedious, as I'm fairly new to ArchiCAD and I have searched this forum and google, and Graphisoft Help which seems long and laborious.

I have a structural engineer asking for "a copy of the DXF". Is it a case of just putting a marquee around the Floor plan they need and 'save as' a DXF file? What is the difference between doing it this way and doing it through publisher? Do I need to send the layout or is just the 'save as' floor plan enough? The DXF-DWG translation setup just confuses me and the 'help' just confuses me even more.

Could someone please just put it into some simple terms for me? I'd really appreciate it.

thanks so much.

I am in same boat as yours, new to use ArchiCAD. Did you figure out any simpler form to understand DXF file from publishing or is save as proper?
Publisher is only a convenience if you want to publish multiple layouts or views at the same time, or e.g. a single PDF file with multiple pages. For a single floor plan, Save As works just fine. DXF is sort of like a "dumbed down" DWG file, and so may be a little more generic. The translators give you more control over what the output looks like, but probably any one will work fine for a DXF file.
