Hi,

What are the settings to be done to export to ETABS using DXF and IFC file format.

I tried the setting in DXF-DWG Translation setup and IFC Translation setup.

The file is not opening in ETABS.

Please help me.

Thank you,

Regards,

Hi Roopa A,

Could you be more specific ?
What do you see ?
Is there an alert message when importing files ? If yes which ?

Hi Sir,

If I import ifc file, it shows ETABSIO has stopped working.

If i import DXF file, it will not show the model in the ETABS software.

Importing options in ETABS are ETABS.e2F Text file, ETABS6 Text file, ETABS.edb file, DXF file of architectural grid, DXF floor plan, DXF file of 3D model, IFC.ifc file, IGES.igs file, CIS/2.stp file, Revit sructure.exr file, ProSteel.mdb file, Framework plus.sfc file, STRUDL\STAAD.gti\.std file

What would be the reason ?

Hi,

How do you do your exports ?
With a publication ?
Since a 3D view and Save as (ifc) ?
Since a 2D view and Save as (dwg) ?
Which parameters you use to export ifc and dwg ?
It's strange to have a bug with both (ifc and dwg)

Hi,

Export with IFC format,

Export 2D with IFC ---> If I save in this format to import in ETABS, It shows ETABSIO is stopped working.

Export 3D with IFC ---> If I save in this format, it shows the same message.

Export with DXF format,

Export 2D with DXF ---> If I save in this format to import in ETABS, It shows No Entities found in this Layers.

Export 3D with DXF ---> If I save in this format, It shows the same message, it shows the same messgae.
Sometimes it opens in this format, but the model is not seen.

What would be the reason?

Thank you,

IFC = 3D only with properties informations
If you want 2D graphics informations you had to export a pdf or a dwg
So if you want to export an IFC you have to do this since a 3D view with the right export parameters

DXF = 2D and 3D informations without property like classifications
If you want a DXF export you have to do this since a 2D view or a layout with the right export parameters

The best way is to generate a publication to do this only one time for ever

Property parameter r classification like what, how and where to give.
We need to give the column and beam position and details to the structural people directly from the archicad. So. What will the settings.

Can you briefly explain the settings for this. Please...
Thank you

Export an IFC without being sure classification are right and what does it means is quite useless
But you can try to export your IFC since a 3D view with the translator which is called "AECOsim Building Designer".. Then tell me about the result

No its not working, its showing the same message. ETABSIO has stopped working.
Both with 2D and 3D view with Translator setting as "AECOSim Building Designer".
