Fairly new to this and was hoping to get some help. In the image below, I would like to create a legend on each elevation page that lists the elevation material type - i.e. place a marker on the elevation and a legend somewhere on the side, rather than regular callouts. Can anyone give me a hint on how this is best achieved?

Try using the Surface Label Tool.
You can choose which face of a wall, roof, slab to reference.
And/or you could create a schedule of the exterior finished surfaces.
