When you look for innovation stories, Morph, based in Spain, provides a prime example. They have specialized in designing unique residential and commercial buildings and can be credited with creating seven of the fifty tallest towers in Spain. Since its founding in 2014, Morph has used Archicad as its primary design tool. The founder, César Frías, has utilized Archicad since the beginning of his practice, allowing the team to benefit from its intuitive and comprehensive BIM capabilities. This long-term use of Archicad has enabled Morph to push the boundaries of design innovation.

The Sphere Sotogrande, located in Sotogrande, Spain, is a residential project completed in 2025 using Graphisoft Archicad, Graphisoft BIMx, Solibri, Rhino, and Grasshopper. Morph's innovative use of BIM technology and commitment to sustainability and design excellence are key highlights of their work on the Sphere Sotogrande project.

Morph utilizes several specific features in Archicad to enhance its design process, establishing a practice of using intuitive BIM for innovative design. They start from scratch with new ideas for each project and turn to parametric BIM to come up with multiple concepts before finalizing the design. The Sphere has a sustainability aspect, aiming for BREEAM certification and WELL Building Standard assessment, using the European LEVEL(s) framework for low environmental impact. BREEAM's holistic approach ensures that buildings are designed and operated sustainably, contributing to a greener and more resilient built environment.

Read through the success story to discover how Morph creatively employed Rhino to design the intricate geometries of the Sphere. BIM tools like Solibri and Archicad facilitated collaboration, with Archicad’s issue manager addressing problems and utilizing BIMx for impressive virtual reality presentations, enabling clients to explore the project virtually.

Get insights into how the intuitive use of BIM contributed to Morph’s success on this and many projects.
