Step up your Interior Design projects by using progressive Archicad techniques

In my pre-Graphisoft years, I worked on various design projects, including residential interiors, which I always loved. Designing these spaces often brings unique challenges that require specific Archicad skills you might not use in typical architectural projects. You need to focus much more on materials, textures, colors, furniture, and other equipment, which requires a different approach to the software.

Throughout these different project stages, you will encounter many challenges. When these will arise and how you will tackle them will depend on where you are in the design process.

  • Modeling Existing Spaces: At the early stages, it’s crucial to be able to import external documents and build your model. Providing element metadata you’ll be able to harness powerful functionalities like the Renovation Filter, which allows you to create specific views of different stages, such as existing or planned.

  • Visualizing Interiors: This is probably the most important part when it comes to client communication. Building 3D diagrams at the early stages or showing photorealistic renderings of your design is invaluable. To make this happen, you need to be confident using building materials and surfaces in Archicad.

  • Building Custom Objects: Knowing the default Archicad library and fine-tuning the settings of its contents can already get you far. But learning to import or create your own objects will take you even further.

  • Documenting Interiors: With Archicad, you can automate a lot. Setting up your views and layouts beforehand will save you many painful hours, so it’s worth investing your time learning how to do things more efficiently on the documentation side.
