ArchiCAD 9/WIBU key problem on Windows 7

Anonymous
Not applicable
Can ArchiCAD 9 run on a PC with "Windows 7 Home Premium?" I've installed the software and it will only run in Demo mode...for some reason the WIBUkey drivers won't install...any ideas? I've tried the Wibu 6.00b drivers from Graphisoft as well as the 6.0f drivers from WIBU.com

I know nothing is wrong with the WIBU key itself as it still works perfectly on my older Windows Vista computer...Is there some "magic" step I'm missing
perplexed....frustrated....confused

System Info:
Windows 7 Home Premium - service pack 1
Intel Core i7
64 bit OS
8.00 gig RAM

Thanks,
Dan K

Wonder if you followed the instructions regarding Java here:

http://www.archicadwiki.com/Windows%207#ArchiCAD_9

You probably need to upgrade to 7 Professional for $65

so that you will be able to run old programs like 9 in "XP Mode". Note on the Wiki page that AC 10 requires XP Mode (e.g., 7 Professional or Ultimate) ... so I would expect that 9 would as well?

Karl, thank so much for the reply...

Yes, I followed those instructions exactly...ArchiCAD seems to run fine in Demo mode...I just can't seem to get the WIBU drivers to work...on my last computer running Windows Vista, I remember there was some kind of trick to get it to work...just can't seem to remember what it was...Seems like it was a setting in the WIBU control planel or something...

Unless there is something radically different in another flavor of Windows 7, I not sure upgrading to Windows 7 pro would make a difference...my other computer handles ArchiCAD 9/WIBU with basic Windows Vista Home Premium just fine...

I noticed the AC10/XP Mode comment as well but AC9/Windows 7 referenced issues reported on Windows Vista installations...

Still stumped but thanks for the input

Welcome. Hope somebody else with Win 7 Home sees this thread and has an idea.

There is: "XP Mode" (and a few other things like better networking support). XP Mode lets older programs that are not compatible with Win 7 to run in an XP emulation mode.

Good luck! 🙂

Found this post from a year ago from a guy who got 9 running on 7 home, Dan. Maybe write him a PM to see what he did?

And... I found this post from Gergely Kmethy recommending avoiding XP Mode due to performance degradation:

So... ignore whatever I said. 😉

I'm using Windows Home with AC-9 installed and it runs properly. I don't remember facing any problem with the WIBU key at the time.

Hope one of these threads can help you, Dan:
