I need to assemble a PC computer for utilizing ArchiCad (and possibly 3dmax), and now Iam looking for most suitable hardware components. I read this forum and have noticed many useful things which helped me a lot. A few questions I would like to ask: Is it reasonable to spend more money for a dual processor configuration? What performance gain it would give comparing to singleprocessor one? If anybody anybody use dualproc Intel based PC please share you opinion.
thanks in advance
P.S. sorry for my english ..

Smoker,
I don't think you would notice a performance gain in Archicad unless you had several applications running. I purchased a dual processor machine with a single processor. I will add the second processor in the future, if Archicad starts to support them. With rumors of 9.0 coming out soon, who knows?
Steve
P.S. I think your English is fine.

Thank you very much Stephen.
I think I will do the same, i.e. buy a dualproc motherboard and one processor and add second one in case of necessity.
thx

As long as you can afford it why not start with dual or quad processors? Several top end programs utilize the power even if ArchiCAD won't.

ArchiCAD 9 also provides:
- The implementation of LightWorks, the industry standard, high-quality rendering engine that dramatically boosts presentation capabilities and supports dual processor machines for high performance.
YES! Dual processor recognition. G5's will be zippy.
