Kensington Optical Mouse on a Mac

Seems that since myupgrade to system X.3 Panther the mouse has changed it's 'stickiness' - by which I mean, that selecting text in a message, browser or even Simple Text can become a nightmare; the selection is unpredictable and does not 'stick' on.

Same thing with trying to Select and Drag a file on the Desktop or on the Hard Drive is the same; it does not stay attached to the pointer/curser it drop off along the way and usually ends up in another folder, for me to find it and try again...

I have the latest driver installed and I have written to Kensington -only to be ignored.
Is it time for another mouse?
Any suggestions?
Thanks
Jacek

I use two different Kensington mice with no problems at all. I have two travel mice, one with the retractable cord. Both work perfectly with no drivers installed. They both have just two buttons and a scroll wheel so I have no need for the Kensington drivers.

I have also had good experiences with the performance of Microsoft mice though I dislike their shape and size. I have found Logitech mice to be mostly jumpy and annoying.

I wish Apple would make a two button mouse

I guess that means it is my mouse, it is a five button mouse that I have had for a couple (more?) of years. Perhaps it is time to retire i?t

your problem sounds driver- or hardware-related :

I faithfully use a Kensington TurboBall (many years old....) on ArchiCAD 8.1 (build 1410) without any stickiness in OS 10.3.2 My mouse driver is Kensington Mouseworks 2.2.

Jeffry and Matthew, thanks for your suggestions, yesterday when buing a remote controller for my son's X-Box I have treated myself to a new Kensington Optical Elite 5 button mouse.
It was indeed a 'hardware' problem. The mouse works great and the problems are gone! All that for $19.99! An easy solution.
Thanks
