Which A3 inkjet writer?

I was tempted to get the 9800 yesterday when i stoped at the local Staples (?) they had both models on display. The sales guy reminded me that the 2800 had separate cartridges and that in the long run the cartridges are more costly than the printer.

I was bummed out at Epson when they stopped supporting the 1520 - drivers for the Mac, and vowed not to give them more business.
I like canon and had very good luck with their cameras and printers.

I will mainly use the printer for check prints 50% (18x12), letters and occasional rendering or presentation drawings.
