Advice on local ARCHICAD / Teamwork Library locations

Hi

In our office we have about 1/3 of our projects on Teamwork and the 2/3 on our local server.
We currently have two spots for our AC libraries, one on the BIM server (for Teamwork) and one on our local server.

Is there any advice as to whether this should be maintained? Or should our local AC files be Linking the libraries from the BIM server library as well? So that everybody (whether Teamwork or local) is using the same library (BIM server library)?

Having said that to upload to the BIM server library one needs to go through windows explorer anyway - so it seems like the duplication of two library spots is somewhat unavoidable?

Advice would be appreciated.

Thanks,
Ben

Performance-wise - use either bimserver libs for local projects or make a "office library" location common to all users. As I see You are on Windows so in the second case I make a folder "Archicad Libs" on C drive on all copmputers (all f them have t have c drive...) in the office and all the computers have the same content of it (BimManager role is to get them all updated / sychronized - there are good free tools for folder sync like Free file sync - and such tool would have to be run periodically)
Do not use the remote location for libraries as it will slow down Your work, I would not use remote location for saving local files either (same syncing strategy for backup must be introduced as for libs).

Thanks Piotr. When you say "remote location" - do you mean the BIM server?

I meant the file server/remote hdd etc... I noticed in my trainer/bimmanager experience, that it is a common "no good" (performance wise) practice to use network share for libraries and project files.
It is good for central management, but it is no good for performance - If you wish to have both - then use local location and then mirror it to the fileserver (the syncing commands can be put to logout batch file for every user - so on the end of his/her work the files would be sychronized)

Btw - do not by any chance use roaming profiles in the office while using teamwork or teamwork libraries.
Some IT guys with no AC practice would advice a roaming profiles in the domain, so in theory everyone could sit at any computer and log into his/her profile, but it can work if no big files are "inside" the user profile - practically it works for clerks using office like software only. TW data is stored in the user profile - so if the user is logged in say 2: 5 GB projects - so on the login the ~10 gigs of data would be downloaded once the person logs in...and the other way around when logs out...

BImserver/Bimcloud will take care of this data itself...
