Blackout trees in elevations and sections.

Anonymous
Not applicable
This is my first post so first of all i want to say hi.

I've started to put trees and shrubs from Archicad Library on the site.

They appear properly on plan views and 3d view but in the elevations and sections they are visible as black rectangles. I've been playing with both elements' and view atrributes but without any success.

PS. When i place trees directly in the elevation view they are shown properly but then, they are not visible on plans nor in the 3d view.

Welcome to the forum.

The trees you are using are "billboards" which is basically a flat plane (the rectangle) with an image on it to represent the tree in renderings. These have various display options for plan view. There are other tree objects which are full 3D and have adjustable leaves, branches and trunks.

I am not sure which trees you are placing directly on elevations, but they are probably just 2D.

Same problem here. I try 3d trees, but the representation it too clumsy no matter what the resolution for brunch or leaves. There is a video on YouTube show this type of 2d tree well represented.

, I try but no progress. If you can resolve this issue please share.

What problems are you having?
These are simply 2D objects placed in the elevation and sent forwards or backwards in display order to appear in front or behind the elevation.

These 'billboard' objects use a picture image on the flat board.
When you view them in 3D with OpenGL, you will see this image.
Switch to the Vectorial engine and you will just see a black square.

Elevations do not use OpenGL which is why they just appear black in an elevation.
Textures on elements will not show in elevation.

You can however paste an image in elevation using the 'figure' tool.
View the billboard in 3D (OpenGL), place a 2D marquee around it and copy (CTRL_C).
Now go to the elevation and paste and you should see the image placed as a figure.

No you can't.

It is a 'billboard' style object and all you will see in elevation is the rectangular board.

Only in 3D OpenGL will it appear as a tree image with a transparent background.
