License Delivery maintenance is expected to occur on Saturday, November 30, between 8 AM and 11 AM CET. This may cause a short 3-hours outage in which license-related tasks: license key upload, download, update, SSA validation, access to the license pool and Graphisoft ID authentication may not function properly. We apologize for any inconvenience.

Dissappearing objects in sections

Anonymous
Not applicable
Does anyone know why some objects seem to dissappear in section view? I'm using structural beams which appear OK in 3D and 3D marquee but when I cut a section through the beam - it dissappears. Any ideas?

Wow. This is serious. Thanks for figuring it out, Fabrizio ... and, yes, John, please advise so Fabrizio can report it immediately if you will not be.

Thanks Karl,

very kind of you...
What can I say?... I well know my chickens!!!
This is an Italian saying that I don't think can be translated in International English (or maybe yes?) it means that after more than 14 years I work with ArchiCAD probably it easier for me to find new/not requested features...

Notwithstanding this, ArchiCAD 9 is still the best version I saw.

Yes it is serious and very annoying as the workaround unfortunately stops being a workaround if you have two sections through the object facing in opposite directions.

I cant believe this hasnt been picked up before and makes me think there is some localization issue as some have reported no problems

I've only had the software for two weeks and have come across four or five bugs. I will report the others if someone can give me a URL or email for doing so.
Cheers John

Dear friends,

I just got the feedback from Graphisoft about this bug: they know it, they will handle and fix it ASAP.
Let me congratulate once again with the new “Graphisoft style” (very similar to the old golden time I remember from the past!... I'm really getting older and older) they immediately react and work to always produce a better ArchiCAD.

Thats great - I was just lamenting how long it might take to repair this item.

Fabrizio, is there a set proceedure for notifying bugs? (ie a URL or email address to use)
Cheers John

I suppose the common procedure should be sending a report to your Tech Support or directly to the GS Tech Support.
The communication channel I always use it's just a bit different: I'm also an ArchiCAD Distributor (the Italian one) so I can use different channel and, over all, I started to cooperate with Cigraph more the 13 years ago that means I’ve been in Budapest so much times that I can consider Graphisoft HQ like my secondary home, so I can be so “brave” (or maybe arrogant! ) to directly contact the developers and, probably, this help a lot in speeding up the whole process…

Also to add to this bug, it only happens in build 1920 ArchiCADs. (AUS, ITA, HUN etc.) Those running INT or USA will not see this bug. Rebuild and regenerate will fix it for them.

Those using 1920 can work it around also by using unlimited section depth. The problem happens only with limited or zero depth sections.

BTW, the official way to report bugs is to send it to your local ArchiCAD provider. (list here: http://www.graphisoft.com/products/where_to_buy/)
They are supposed to help you, and they contact us at HQ if they can't solve the problem.
