Import AutoCAD blocks into GDL subtypes

Anonymous

Hi all

A friend of mine has hundreds of AutoCAD blocks he wishes to import into ArchiCAD. They are only 2D but he wishes to make 3D models in the near future and achieve fully parametrical objects. If he runs the automatic library conversion all the blocks will be converted into plain objects, making it very tedious to later create a full list of parameters (materials, dimensios, etc...) for each object! is there a way to automatically assign imported objects to a determined subtype that he could have created with all the parameters he needs? Shouldn't that be an option to be defined in the translators?

thanks for your help

Hi,

AFAIR the subtype template object or just template object can carry the parameters into the new object autmatically.
Create a template with all parameters and than it will be visible as a subtype (AFAIR) and on selecting object subtype to the template will bring the parameters into a new object.

Best Regards,
