Outline of protruding window frames in 2D

Anonymous
Not applicable
Hello,

I am having trouble getting outlines to appear in my protruding window frames.

In 3D it looks fine. The design intent is that the window frames protrude around 100mm past the outside face of wall to create a "window box"

In 2D, the outer outlines of the protruding part of the frame is not showing any lines.

See attached 3Ds.

I've turned off all Reno Filters & the Model View options has the windows as Detailed

Any tips?

Ben

It looks to me like you are adjusting your frame thickness.
If this gets longer than the wall is thick and protrudes, it seems there is no line to the side of the frame.
Don't ask me why - the side of the frame should have a line no matter where it is in my opinion.

Try leaving a standard frame thickness but set a casing to the outside.
This can extend beyond the wall thickness and will show correctly in plan and 3D.
Turn off the option to 'cover the outer wall face' and you will have your window box.

Thank you Barry. Yes I have been extending the frame thickness and agree it is very odd that no line shows up.

I had a go at your casing method and it is almost there, thanks for the suggestion.

However now I have a line separating the frame and the casing, whereas I want them to read as one element.

Do you know if I would be able to get rid of this line?

Not that I am aware of.
But I rarely use the GS window objects, so maybe someone else will have a better solution.
