Storing GDL object for use on different projects

Hello,

i have tried making GDL of a table using slabs but the problem is when i save it into a FOLDER using FILE>LIB AND OBJECTS>SAVE 3D MODEL AS , and so on....it is woring well inside the project file where i created it. but when i try to use it (by embedding into another project) it does not function as good as it is, the material, 2d sysmbol didnt show what it is suppose to show.
my intention for this GDL is that, i want to have a folder containing all of my created GDL and each time i need this GDL per project, i will just go to the folder and pick it up. i dont want to use BIM server since i am always on a solo project.

i manage to solve the material by using attribute manager and take the material from the file where i created the GDL and append it to the project file where i intend to use the GDL.but this adds up extra work.why cant it be kept within the object itself.

is there some other proper way to do it?

should i use Links for the library instead of Embedding it?

Yes, placing the object(s) in a folder, then adding this folder to the project's libraries via the Library Manager is the way to handle this.

For the material, you should add this material to your template file so it is already present in the project, rather than using the Attribute Manager to add each time. Or you could resave the object using one of the default materials in your template. Materials are part of the project file, not the object. If you are interested in learning some GDL, you can alter the script of the object so the material choice is parametric rather rather than hard coded into the object.

You should add a Signature to your Profile (click the Profile button near the top of this page) with your ArchiCAD version and operating system (see mine for an example) for more accurate help in this forum.
