importing vectorworks dxf files

We are doing some residential remodels and receive as built drawings in vector works .dxf files. Could somebody help a new commer to archicad with the best way of importing these into archicad model? I have started drawing walls/windows/ doors on the existing plan. Is that the only way?

VectorWorks has no IFCs. So you either get 2D DWG or DXF files or you get a 3D export file which you can import as an object only.

There is no other way to transfer the DXF to a model.
