AC21 - Stair that ends on a winder

I'm struggling to get the stair tool to work how I need it. I can't seem to make the stair end with a winder as it automatically adds a tread on the end, it needs to look like the stair on the left but the closest I can get is the stair on the right.
I've changed every setting possible (that I'm aware of!) but just can't get it to work.
Any idea's what I'm doing wrong here?

Have you tried modelling your stair from the top to the bottom?
There is a button to swap direction.
