Hi guys, quick question which may be pointless but i have archicad 9 and i am about to instal archicad 10 but wanted to know if the work i have done in 9 can be used in 10 and altered if need be.

Yes -- be sure to read the migration guide (first part of the ArchiCAD 10 New Features Guide).
