First segment in rail tool not visible in 2D

I can't figure out why the first segment of any rail I make doesn't show up in 2D. Display Order makes no difference, all nodes are on the same story. I redraw elsewhere, same thing.

I have no idea what might be happening.
But if you select the railing in plan, does the reference line for that first segment show?
And just to confirm if it does not, and you then show selection in 3D, you now see the first segment.
