Pasting a mesh from one Archicad file to another prouduces polylines

Hi! Im trying to paste a mesh that I have created in one Archicad file into athother Archicad file. The problem that arises is that the pasted file becomes a set of polylines. In other words it doenst copy and paste the mesh. 

Is there any way that I can easily transfer this mesh from one file to another? Its a bit tedious to remake the mesh from the polylines when the other file already has it the way I need it.

Are you pasting into a layout rather than the plan of the second file?
