Independant details coming up empty

Up until just a day or so ago - everything was fine with the independant details and importing them (the whole drawing) into Plotmaker. Just the other day though - plotmaker gave me a message that one of my details (that I had edited) was empty upon import. I check in Archicad (9) and its there in both the project map and then view set. Try importing again with same results.

So today I created a new independant detail with simple lines and dimensioned it. When I imported into plotmaker, the dimensions show up but the lines dissapear. I have done everything I can think of to see if I can figure it out but alas - nothing.

Each time I create a new independant detail in the project map, (its cloned in the view sets) and draw lines, it draws in fine. I then close the detail - or save and close or save the project with the detail open or adjust layers, layer settings, and display settings, or ... or... etc. etc .etc..... But if I try and import it into plotmaker - the lines are gone.

Moreover - if I close that file and reopen it - the independant detail is there in the project map and the view sets, but the lines are gone.

Any ideas what is going on with this? I'm floored.

It's a mystery to me too (at least from your description). I assume that there is not a change in the layer settings in PM.

I have had no troubles at all with independent details, but still (or once again) have problems with drawings linked from the PLN. If you are under deadline and don't have time to sort it out, reverting to using PMKs should get the drawings out for you.

It sounds like a corrupt or undefined ("custom") layer combination associated with the detail ... and hence the cloned set.

Check the combo.

If there is a defined combo, try this. Drag the detail into the view set as an independent view and make sure it is defined properly. Try to import that. Work? If so, problem with the cloning.

(Personally, I never use clones since my view organization almost never parallels the navigator item organization.)

I had this problem before as well. For me, I had details made in AC 8 and then did a cut and paste into my detail marker, but I was using AC 9.

The details would always come up empty after restarting AC or importing into Plotmaker. To fix the problem, I opened the detail that was previously created in AC 8, changed my libraries to AC 9, saved, and then copied and pasted into my detail marker.

Seems to be a problem sometimes copying from an AC 8 file into an AC 9 file.

Thanks for your comments.

For now, I found a detail that was working properly and copied its contents to the new detail. Then edit the new detail. So for now its working. If I run into more problems with it I just might have to do some more research.

I have checked the layer and display combinations and they seem to be all set up correctly.

Maybe I'll find something later. Thanks again for your help.
