When I try to produce a sketch render of a scheme (typically 4 units plus) I get the following message "Disk is Full (error code 1111) can't extend temporary file"
I have tried using an alternate cache file, I have 20gb of storage space on my hard drive, I have 1.5gb of ram and I cannot find what this means from either the Graphisoft web site or microsoft and I have also tried a Google search.
If anybody knows why I'm getting this message, please let me know as it has prevented me from producing some desired images from certain projects.
Thanks
Mark

Increased my virtual memory to 4gb, no change and tried rendering without trees and site mesh still no change.

So now the pendulum of speculation swings back toward corrupted element.

Set your paging file size in the Windows control panel/system/advanced/performance/advanced to large value - 4GB for example.
I am not sure but WinXP (32 bit) can address max 2GB of memory, I think...

But this matter appears to concern an out-of-control temporary file on a hard disk rather than a RAM allocation problem.

hmmmm,

Mark,
try to render each layer separately and watch the timer.. it's a bit tedious work but at least you can find out what is the actual rendering killer.

I will try rendering each layer individually, any ideas how long the average render should take?

A sketch render for an averaged sized dwelling (with all layers switched on) normally takes my system about 10 minutes.

Cheers

Mark.

There is no such thing as an average render.

Sketch renderings take a long time relative to what you get - they are more complex than they appear.

We had the same problem, but we are sure that we have enough space, because when error occurred, ArchiCAD was showing 600 MB free space of 2GB total physical memory (RAM). With swap file, we have 4 GB. The problem probably disappeared, when we replaced garden chairs from the standard library (ArchiCAD 9). So try to hide some objects and remove the problematic one.

Hi been busy working on a project larger than those which I have been having problems with and I'm very happy to say that I've had no sketch rendering problems with this project, despite it being a larger file.

Having gone through the motion of rendering individual layers, it was inconclusive as to the main reason why sketch rendering was not working on these two projects and I was beginning to wonder if Hotlinking (which I haven't done in my latest project) could cause any problems.

However I have also cleaned up my latest project (only leaving necessary layers, materials, hatches etc.) and as I've only been using Archicad for 9 months I'm still learning such things as the importance of a orderly template file etc.

Hopefully this issue is because of my previous projects not being as orderly as they could of and maybe there were some conflicting files which I have now eradicated and this problem has gone away.

Thanks for helping everyone!!!

hi !!!!
im very happy that you have this problem im sorry but im very happy because yesterday for the first time i had the same problem

i was terrified because i hat to deliver the project tomorrow
i discovered that the problem was some trees that were not in archicad library 9.

so i turned layer trees off and then render in lightworks not in sketch but then it was all right.

i removed all the trees and put new ones and the problem was solved
i think its not the memory its some library parts that sometimes have problems in rendering even if they are alone in a project

but of course this message could appear and in many other cases.

i thought that might help
