Smart View Clones for Enhanced View Management

I propose the introduction of Smart View Clones in Archicad to enhance the flexibility and efficiency of the current view cloning system. This feature would allow users to create cloned views based on specific constraints, such as defined story ranges or view naming patterns.

Key Features:

  1. Story Range Specification:

    • Enable cloning of views for a selected range of stories (e.g., from Basement (-1) to 5th Floor), allowing for targeted documentation of specific building sections.

  2. Naming Pattern Filters:

    • Allow cloning based on view names or prefixes (e.g., views starting with "Section_" or containing "Elevation"), facilitating the organization of views by type or discipline.

  3. Dynamic Updates:

    • Ensure that Smart View Clones automatically update to include new stories or views that meet the predefined criteria, maintaining consistency as the project evolves.

Benefits:

  • Streamlined View Management: Reduces clutter by generating only the necessary views, improving project organization.

  • Enhanced Productivity: Minimizes manual adjustments, saving time and reducing the potential for errors.

  • Improved Collaboration: Facilitates better coordination among team members by providing tailored view sets relevant to specific roles or tasks.

Use Case Example:

An architect working on a multi-story building can create Smart View Clones for all floor plans between the 1st and 5th stories labeled with "Interior." As new floors are added or renamed, the cloned views update automatically, ensuring the documentation remains current without manual intervention.

Implementing Smart View Clones would significantly enhance Archicad's view management capabilities, aligning with the needs of users handling complex projects.
