Spaces in AI Assistant + MCP: what would you check your model against?

Spaces in AI Assistant (Beta) let you build a knowledge base from your own documents. Archicad MCP gives the AI structured access to your live model. Together, they let you ask: “Here’s the regulation. Does my model comply?”

How it works

  1. Open the sidebar menu in AI Assistant and click Create a new space.
  2. Upload your reference documents.
  3. Start a chat inside the Space and ask about your model in that context. You can also enable Web search, paste the exact URL of a code section, and ask AI Assistant to check your model against it.

Ideas to get you started

  • Upload the Building Code and check your model for missing or wrong information.
  • Upload fire rating regulations and ask AI Assistant to check whether the doors in your project comply.
  • Upload a product installation guide and have the requirements converted into standardized Keynote entries, grouped into folders.
  • Paste the URL of the relevant part of the International Residential Code and ask AI Assistant to check your zones.

Good to know

  • Up to 10 Spaces per account, up to 10 files per Space.
  • PDF only, up to 40 MB per file.
  • Spaces are tied to your account, so they’re available from any project or device.
  • Model-changing actions need your explicit approval and are applied as a single undoable batch. Deleting isn’t available.
  • For critical or compliance-related information, verify results independently.
  • MCP tools require Archicad Collaborate or Archicad Max.

We’d love to hear from you

  • What documents would you upload to a Space (codes, fire ratings, product guides, office standards, client requirements)?
  • What would you want AI Assistant to check or fix in your model against them?
  • Where did it fall short? Did a document not parse well, or did a check need something the tools can’t do yet?

Reply with this template if you can:

Document type: [e.g. national building code, fire door schedule, manufacturer guide]
Source: [PDF upload or URL via Web search]
My prompt: [what you asked, with exact property names and units]
Scope: [selected elements, whole model, non-visible elements included?]
Result: [what worked, what was wrong, what was missing]
Follow-up wish: [what you’d want to do next, such as fix issues in a batch or log them as Keynotes]

Tips for better results

  • Upload only the relevant sections. Smaller, focused PDFs give clearer answers than a whole code book.
  • Use quotation marks and Archicad property names as stored in your file.
  • Always include units (mm, m, ft).
  • Ask AI Assistant to list the affected elements and their key properties so you can review the findings before approving any edits.
  • If you want hidden or other-story elements checked, say so explicitly.

We’ll read every reply and share the most common use cases, and what’s planned, in a follow-up.
