Put Viewmap on layout automaticaly

I didnt find such function in documentation but technically it should be possible i mean ViewMap object is NavigatorItem. Layout is database so all i have to is to use ACAPI_Element_Create() with correct data and that should work am i right?? Have any of you try this already? Is it even possible?
