Re: Floor Area Schedule total Zones, No Refresh, X-Pollinate

I thought I had the Floor Area Schedule with totals using Zones
figured out!

Issue 1:
In one AC10 file, 425.pln, the Gross Floor Area (GFA) schedule works. In a second AC10 file, 436.pln, the zones have not yet been drawn onto the plan, however the "Element Schedule" shows the quantities from the first file, 425.pln? Why are the zone quantities linked without the zones being drawn onto the plan?

Issue 2:
In the first file, 425.pln, I stretched one zone, the garage area, the GFA quantity changed accordingly in the Area field in the schedule, but the quantity in the Zone stamp remained unchanged and the "Net Area" field in the schedule also remained unchanged? Prior to the stretch all the quantities in the related fields were the same. 385.97 SF.

What is wrong with my setup or concept?

Thanks Greg.

In my attempt to figure out issue 1, in 436.pln I clicked on the GFA 425 Schedule in the menu and the schedule was produced with the quantities of the 425.pla file. Then I clicked on the GFA 436 Schedule in the menu of the 436.pla, but it was blank (actually there was no response ie no schedule was produced) Then I got a bug report:

Bug report. bug ID: 2007-06-15-18-49-27-1699

Is this really a bug or was it my setup?

Could some one please offer some advice, any ideas?

Thanks Greg.

It seems that your pictures did not attach.

Issue 1: Seems strange. Perhaps a bug. Does it change once zones are placed in 436.pln? It may have inherited the value from 425.pln and won't clear it until forced.

Issue 2: Net areas don't recalculate until you select Design > Update Zones.... I believe this is for performance reasons. Zone stamps can really bog things down in some cases (I won't go into the details since they are sort of esoteric and you won't run into them unless you get into some advanced GDL stuff). GS has pretty well protected us from this and the "Update Zones" command is one of the ways.

Matthew,
Thanks for the quick reply.

The pictures are visible when I log in and go to "view your own posts" but they are not visible when I am not logged on!

I attempted to attached a pdf file (344 KB size), of the post with the pictures, to this post but it would not go through.
Also tried pdf of 3 pics only.

Any suggestions?

Thanks Greg.

Matthew,

Thanks for the info.

Issue 2 is resolved per your instruction, when Update zones is selected.

Issue 1 Persists, I placed zones on to the plan, 436.pln. The result was a GFA schedule with all the quantities from both files, 425.pln and 436.pln.

Opening 425.pln again showed essentially the same, i.e. GFA quantities from both files, in the GFA Zone Schedule.

I have made contact with GS and am anticipating their response.

Thanks Greg.
