Sketchup 2013 can't import skp file into ArchiCAD 17

Just downloaded ArchiCAD 17 TRIAL VERSION with view to purchasing product mainly due to new functionality with importing sketchup files.

However, the ArchiCAD 17 program will not import (open) a Sketchup 2013 file (.skp file). ArchiCAD program otherwise working fine. I followed the ArchiCAD video below:

ie. FILE SPECIAL > MERGE > (DEFAULT IMPORT SETTINGS) > (FILE OPEN VIA BROWSER>,,, then the program "converts" the file via small dialogue box on screen but when I was prompted to "pin" the file on the worksheet nothing happened.

Tried multiple times,, same result.

I am fairly new to CAD software, but fairly good grasp of computing generally.

Still can't open any .skp files (SketchUp 8, earlier or older)

Thank you Steve Jepson. Finally find a way to open .skp files. It was good idea. Goodbye .skp files, welcome .3ds.

Perhaps you are not finding where they are after ArchiCAD has converted the .skp file into and ArchiCAD .gsm model part. They are by default embedded into the library. If you look in the Embedded library you should find it. Perhaps your renovation filter settings are not letting you see it in the drawing view. ?

I can see where they are after converting but there is an error in file script and all I see is a point. I gave up. Maybe I will try to deal with it some other time.
