If the lower edge of the roof (right hand side of your image) is not exactly perpendicular to the roof pitch it may have assigned that edge as a barge rather than a gutter. It seems odd, though, that none of the other barge edges have nodes to stretch soffit width either. Do you definitely have the roof covering elected and not the roof object ? Try deleting the covering and creating a new one.
