exporting as DWG

hi

i just want to know if there is an easier way of saving archicad drawings as dwg files.

what i do is make a copy of my pln file, open the view to each floor/section/elevation/detail, delete all working drawings/sketches around it (so as not to confuse the consultant), save each view using the translator (a separate dwg for each view), then delete that copy of the pln.

every time i go through this process i feel that there must be an easier way of doing this...is there?

thanks

m

oh my god yes!

use the publisher. drag and drop multiple view or layouts from the navigator to create a .dwg publishing set. Chose the dwg. format or output and have them saved as .dwg with a single click.

Instead of deleting annotations and symbols, construct views adjusting the visibility of these items. use these 'export' views in the publisher. Create a set of model view options and layers sets that can be applied from project to project to further assist you in this task.

Adjust the translator to your liking, these settings are saved and can be applied from project to project w/o re-setting them up every time.

Sit back and enjoy all the tedious work you've avoided. javascript:emoticon(':D')

yup - oh my god is right. i thought i must have been doing it the long-ass way

thank you - thank you - thank you

i just did it - though the whole floor plan w/ annotations etc. came in as one block, as did the title block and general notes etc. even though i have the 'explode complex archicad elements' chosen in the translator

thanks again

Hi Moji,
Seems like you lack the very basic dwg export knowledge.
Read about how to configure the translator for dwg export. It's not that hard. I don't know if you are using a translator and dwg template file from GS UK or not but for our swedish standard dwg export everything comes out as one block if you don't use the template file. If you are using the template file everything is sweet, red and green lines as the flatcadders want it. Pointing at the template file from the translator setting takes about 30 seconds so....
