Ok, I've been playing around trying to import various 3D-formats. I only manage to import dwg as a library part. Is there any way to import an obj or 3ds file into archicad? any plug-ins?

there is a plug-in (included with AC9, but available out on the net I believe for 8.1 as well) that imports 3Ds.

If you have version 9, check the Goodies folder.
