Who are you?
"I'm an architect and software developer specialising in tools for the architecture and BIM industry. My work spans development of add-ons for Graphisoft Archicad, OpenBIM, and BIM data utilities. I also built several parametric objects for Archicad that helped modularise repetitive modelling work. In this space, I explored OpenBIM by coordinating BIM data exchange between Archicad and other platforms, built an IFC data viewer and contributed to the development of the native IFC viewer of IfcOpenShell open source project.
Having experience in the architectural practice helps me understand the pain points of the end users - making it easier to speak the same language when working with architects and BIM professionals, and ultimately build effective solutions for them."
What motivated you to start developing for Graphisoft products?
"As I was involved in programming before studying architecture, during my architectural practice I always had thoughts about how some repetitive parts of the CAD workflow could be automated and had the urge to build it. As I came across the APIs of Graphisoft products (especially Archicad API), I started experimenting with it. Since I had prior knowledge of C++ and experience in BASIC (what GDL is based on), the ecosystem felt familiar and highly rewarding to delve into."
How long have you been active in the Graphisoft community?
"I first used Archicad to model a project back in 2009, but I have been actively involved in the Graphisoft ecosystem since 2019."

"ONIZU showcases various BIM tools and Archicad add-ons, addressing the challenges faced in professional practice workflows in the AEC industry. The solutions include Archicad add-ons, BIMx extensions, Parametric objects and OpenBIM support."
What inspired the idea for your content?
"During the initial years of providing support with BIM implementation and cross-platform interoperability, there were some friction points in the workflows that were calling out for automation or custom tooling. I was already exploring and testing the API by then. This led to the development of the early experimental tools."
What challenges did you face during development?
"The early tools were the most challenging. It took several iterations and updates to reach accuracy and professional-grade stability. A lot of effort was put into creating well-balanced user interfaces. It was a process that demanded patience, where even a small nudge to a UI element meant recompiling the project and reloading Archicad to see the result. The end result was a polished tool that feels at home inside Archicad.
The Graphisoft Community deserves a mention here - their support was invaluable in overcoming many of those challenges."
Any interesting learnings or behind-the-scenes insights?
"Developing add-ons for Archicad gave me a sort of under-the-hood look into Archicad. It was really fascinating to see how all the various parts work together. You get to appreciate the delicate balance that such a huge software program like Archicad holds while running and handling such big projects."
How does your solution add value for Graphisoft users?
"For Graphisoft users, the value lies in tapping the data stored inside their model. A decent BIM model holds a wealth of information. Accessing and validating that data easily is often where workflows slow down. The tools at ONIZU address this by helping users inspect, validate and extract model data more efficiently, whether for coordination, quantity take-offs, or model-checking."
Do you collaborate with other community members or teams?
"Yes, these tools have evolved through continuous collaboration and feedback from the users. The beta-testers have been invaluable in test-driving the initial versions."

- QuickProp
QuickProp’s strength is in showing the values of the properties of several elements all in a single view, live, as you interactively select elements in your model. This allows for checking the model for any inconsistencies in data and spotting errors and quickly fixing them.
It also has a set of context buttons to batch select elements on the fly, having the same attribute or a property value, which some users find very useful.

QTY tool allows users to extract and list quantities based on a set of items you define using filters and a formula using properties and parameters.

ZoneData add-on turns zone information into practical, usable project data. It helps architects and BIM teams inspect connected element information based on zones, label zone boundaries with edge lengths, door/window and walls data with selected properties and export organised Excel reports for quantity analysis and costing workflows.
