Dear Community,
This month’s tip comes from a practical modeling challenge: how to cut a beam at a specific point—especially when you need precise documentation for a custom roof truss or timber joinery.
User @Noody asked whether it’s possible to cut a beam at an exact spot, and the solution shared by @Jaime-airc_digital is refreshingly simple.
When working with structural elements like timber beams or trusses, you often need to show partial cuts, end notches, or connection points. Instead of duplicating geometry or modifying profiles, you can cut beams cleanly using the Opening Tool. This will give you control over where and how the beam is sliced, while preserving element data and behavior.
Thank you, @Jaime-airc_digital, for sharing this quick and effective solution. It’s a great example of using Archicad’s tools to solve real modeling needs.
