Tip of the Month, December 2023: Aligned rendered axonometric views

Dear Community members,

We start off our Tip of the Month series this year with the Tip of December. Our forum highlight goes to @thesleepofreason, who posted an objective workflow for creating aligned axonometric views with CineRender.

Consistent alignment between floors can be challenging while changing the height of the 3D cut plane. To ensure precision and consistency, use section viewpoints to control the cutting plane height, and save the subsequent perspective views. Here's the step-by-step guide:

  1. Activate a saved view in the 3D window and set up your desired axonometry
    Step 1.png
  2. Switch to the generic axonometry viewpoint to retain projection settings.
    Step 2.png
  3. In the section viewpoint, adjust the cutting plane height.
    Step 3.png
  4. Return to the generic axonometry viewpoint, which now reflects the new cutting plane, save the view and repeat as needed.
    Step 4.png
Here, you can save it to generate in the PhotoRendering window, if desired.

Honorable mention

We would like to highlight the contribution of @Mario Sacco, whose 3DMD Polyline Pathway (GDL object) was recently featured in this forum thread as a solution for applying textures on curved surfaces.

Thank you to @thesleepofreason and @Mario Sacco, for sharing their expertise and streamlining processes for our fellow Archicad users. @Tom Elliott, the author of the original question of this month’s tip, also gave a shout out to the swift and varied responses from the Community, highlighting the value of collaboration and knowledge-sharing.

On that note, stay tuned for the Tip of January coming soon!
