A single Dell 24" wide LCD or 2 x 20.1 wide LCDs?

I need to upgrade a workstation and was wondering what would work best. I 've always used a dual screen set up but I see those Dell 24" wides are pretty nice. I can also get 2 x 20.1 wide LCDs for about the same price as a single 24" wide LCD.
Not sure how Archicad works on a single wide screen.

Any takers?

You need to use F9 +F8 to manage windows on the 30" display. Kewl.

New Leopard opsys has additional single display coping mechanism:

Jeff:

You can't go wrong with the glossy screen. I keep seeing these on other people's displays in airports and it is striking how much more bright and clear they seem compared to my two year old satin-like display.

You would also think that airport waiting areas would be plagued with brightness and glare but the shiny displays cope well with this challenge, so i expect a desktop unit would be superb.

Next time I'm going glossy.

Hi Dwight!

Sun out up there? We're getting a rare appearance here after days on end of our famous gray..........

Thanks for the affirmation on the screen type. As I mentioned my newer laptop has that type and I can even actually see the screen outside, without a shade! Not even remotely possible with my old one. [3 years qualifies as old !?!] The clarity is amazing and don't think I could go back now. Wouldn't it be something if there was some standardization in nomenclature between manufacturers to sort all this out without leaving home! Guess I'll have to look elsewhere brand-wise, or wait for Dell to come around.

Does Dell do a 30" glossy now?

I do love my MBP glossy screen.
I know people say the glossy does give off too much reflection and are not good for outside usage? I never noticed, besides I'd be nuts to lug a laptop up a scaffolding or boom lift to show some nifty detail I drew in AC10 to some ironworkers:lol: . I've dropped cell phones , laser devices...etc.....from up high so the $2G lappy stays in my truck.
Any laptop screen ,matte and glossy ,out in the bright sun will be hard to view IMHO.

Hi Jeff,

I have the 24" Dell and it has a matte finish. I had a 20.1" before this and the 24" is perfect for me. It seems very crisp and I would never go back to a smaller one. The distance I am set up from the screen is ideal for this size and I think that would make a difference if you went to a 30" or so. I am very happy with this panel for now but would consider a 30" when this one wears out. And the price on these continues to drop. Mine was just under a $1000 and I think you can get them in the $700 range now.

Cheers,
