Archicad 27 freezing at random moments on PC. Anyone else?

HELP!
I have been recently experiencing serious freezes at random times using Archicad 27 on my Windows pro 24 PC.

Its been happening for a couple of weeks now. 

I will get the blue processing circle in place of the cursor, and it spins for maybe 20-30 seconds. I do not crash. God forbid I click the mouse a few times because when ArchiCAD wakes back up, every click that hit an object, will have altered the model. Thanks for all the "undos" allowed. LOL

There is no specific trigger. It even happens even while I'm not doing anything. 

I switch between a Mac intel at the office and a windows PC at home. Does not happen on the Mac. 

It does not happen with other software on my PC. 

It does not matter if I have chrome or my Foxit PDF editor, or any other software open or not. 

I have never experienced this before and wow its very aggravating and a major interruption to my workflow.

My project size is small, about 100kb, and the task manager does not report big up-tics in processing when happening. 

 

Any help is appreciated!

Update.

in the spirit of trying any and everything...

I tried removing and re-installing archicad, and the problem remains.

I have been having the same issue for about 2 months now.   Also on a PC and it is an issue only with Archicad and no other programs as well.

Its good to know i am not the only one suffering, though i wouldn't wish this on anyone trying to get work done!

I am surprised that no one else is having this issue, and that no-one from Graphisoft has a comment. Been using this software and paying for yearly upgrades/service contracts for over a decade! NO HELP! And my subscription is coming due in less than a month...seems the cost went up by about $200.00 for a product I already own...??? I wonder what will happen? 

I hear DATACAD has a decent 3d component. 

 

Here is my latest trouble shooting:

I suspect it is a windows update compatibility issue with ArchiCAD only...  Or my RAM went bad somehow. 

I don't think its a virus because it only happens on ArchiCAD, I can still use any other apps while this is happening. 

Its not the hard drive because I switched a project to the secondary hard drive on this laptop, worked off that, and the problem remains. 

It has been happening more frequently now, I am going to try another windows computer and see if it still happens. 

 

Anyone have a useful comment here? I would love to fix this or know if my machine or the software is at fault.

Not that I have an answer for you, but what kind of license are you using?

Hardware key, network hardware key, software key, cloud license?

I have been using the same USB-hardware key since I bought my own copy, I believe it was at version 15...or was it 12? (...LOL its hard to recall at this point.)

I’m experiencing random hangs with Archicad 28 INT (40xx something build), Win10 (Ryzen 3900X, 128GB RAM, Radeon 5700XT - should be enough to handle your average project).

 

Others experience serious lagging with Archicad 27 INT (6010?) with software keys.

 

Think about selecting fills and waiting 30-50s for it to process on an M1 Max 64 GB machine. 

 

Hilarious - I would laugh, but I can’t.

I can’t pinpoint to what is happening, as the configs and affected versions vary a lot. I don’t recall dealing with such problems before, but it is seriously killing productivity as you get super annoyed instantly, which gets you out a flow state, no matter how deep you were.

 

I’m also paying my SSA - there is another update cycle that I am willing to do this. I expect my design tool to get the f out of my way of thinking, especially at this price point.

 

I don’t know what’s the cause of this (license checking? but I couldn’t catch the traffic), it would be nice to see it resolved. I recall seeing a similar thread for AC28.

I feel your pain. So sorry. Really considering just giving up on this software as well.

I use "cornerboard" trim object all the time....and if i use the "Adjust Height" tool button for it. , it hangs for 30 seconds!!!! 

if I use the stretch tool to adjust the height, problem does not happen. Same function, but if you pick the wrong one you're fckd!!!

 

Why, Graphisoft, WHY!!!

Stop making "improvements" and make what is there, work. 

 

All I need is a simple 3D modeler to show 3D images of my designs,  that can make construction documents with.  Archicad is looking like is trying to serve too many interests.

Try to load Archicad without any third party addons just to check if something

is causing the lag.

 

Also any software with GPU acceleration should be disabled

Stretching of cabinets in 3D/elevation is a known issue and has not been solved properly yet.

As you have a hardware key, that should eliminate any 'checking for license' delays.

 

If you are getting delays (not when stretching cabinets), then report this to your local Archcad support and get them involved.
