KVM switch shares protection key, sort of........

In an effort to share my desktop monitor with my laptop [as an external monitor/additional screen real estate] and create a single work station for both machines I have invested in a USB KVM switch. These units allow switching control and operation of multiple machines from a single keyboard , video monitor , and mouse without physically switching cables from one machine to another.

After shopping for way too long I settled on an Iogear unit with two spare USB ports intended for printer/scanner sharing. Once I set this up I tried the ArchiCAD USB protection key in one of the accessory ports. The results were as I suspected, but surprising non the less.

Essentially you can have open copies of ArchiCAD on each machine and switch back and forth WITHOUT loosing your place, information, or having either open file close. You cannot run both copies simultaneously as in set a render in motion and switch to the other file, but it doesn't close either which seemed more likely!

Now I haven't really figured out what the advantages might be but it seemed worth passing on. So there you go, more adventures in computerland........
