License Delivery maintenance is expected to occur on Saturday, November 30, between 8 AM and 11 AM CET. This may cause a short 3-hours outage in which license-related tasks: license key upload, download, update, SSA validation, access to the license pool and Graphisoft ID authentication may not function properly. We apologize for any inconvenience.

OXSERVER with AC 8

Anonymous
Not applicable
Hello AC people?
Problem.....
I have an extg. stable network running a combination of Pc's and Mac's all with AC 8.1 successfully talking to OSX 10.2.4. Funny cause the box says 10.2.6 or later. BUT....
When I upgrade the Apple Server to OSX 10.3.4 'Panther' and open an extg. or new AC 8.1 file, then make amendments to that file when I go to save; AC 8.1 refuses to update the file, hangs up and crashes (enters a terminal loop).
My AC agent has no answer but is pursuing Graphisoft on my behalf.
I do not presently wish to take up V9 (if indeed this has solved the problem) but I need Panther to resolve a few other issues.
I can't believe that nobody including Graphisoft has come across this problem?
Answers please 'cause I am losing the battle?
Thank you.

GOOD NEWS
We loaded OXServer 10.3.4 and updated to release 8 not 9 as we felt 9 contained bugs and guess what - problem fixed.
glad you've got it fixed, but reading through the thread for the first time it did strike me that it was a permissions issue. are your shares set to 'inherit from parent'? after defining a sensible user/groups permission system and applying to all enclosed items, i always found this gave far less problems. archiCAD/the client machine wasn't responsible for defining the permissions on a file it was writing - it left it to the server to apply the parent directories permissions. happy all around . . .

Just an addition to archiben's tip, I learned today that the 'inherit /permissions/ from parent' setting only works when the file/folder is created from a client machine/over the network.

If you sometimes create files/folders locally, using the server machine as a workstation, the inherit permissions setting won't work. This applies at least to OSX10.2 and 10.3.

for details and how to work around this issue.

will help.
