I cannot compare the two processors, but:

• If planning to work with both applications AND Photoshop as would be normal, you should have at least 4Gb RAM.

• If you plan to drive two large displays, I suggest a 512 Mb Video card.

In the next year, applications will radically expand their addressing of RAM and demands on video cards will also increase.

And so based on what Dwight is saying about the graphics card. If you are not in the position to replace your machine and upgrade your software at the same time look for a machine with a Graphics MXM Module type graphics cards as they are the new upcoming standard for UPGRADE-ABLE graphics cards in laptops.

If you want a 512MB card, check out the M90.

looking more at getting a workstation /desktop , not a laptop.
Good choice. You will get more computer for your dollar with a desktop. The portability is nice though.

Thanks for the lead steve. I got a M90 today.
here is a post about it

One thing about the system. I ended up with the Nvidia Quadro FX 2500, not the Nvidia Quadro FX 3500.

The FX 2500 is not listed in the Wiki here or here.

Anybody using the NVIDIA Quadro FX 2500M 512MB OpenGL card?
Congratulations Jay. Did you get the 4GB RAM with that ?
I am really enjoying mine.
