Plotting layouts with Jpegs and PDF images on Canon Plotter

Got a new plotter last week- a Canon Image Prograf iPF650. This week we discovered a problem when plotting cover sheet layouts that have pdf or jpeg images (usually a scanned line drawing or a 3D rendering that has been saved as a jpeg or pdf and then imported into the layout). The plotter is giving us a error that the memory is full, which it isn't. Sometimes it will plot 2 out of 3 images, or plot some images and not plot the text.

We've talked to Canon and they are a bit stumped- the memory is not full, and everything else plots fine. We can even save the layout sheet as a pdf and plot it.

Anyone come across this issue? We also can't seem to plot directly to the plotter, we have to run it through the spool folder. We thought this was some network issue we have yet to figure out, but maybe this is all part of the same problem.

Running AC14 on MacPros, OSX 10.6.5. Any help, ideas, things I should try????
