Running multiple versions of archicad (problem)

Anonymous
Not applicable
Hi everyone,

I want to run version 10 and 14 of archicad on the same PC. I have tried installing version 10 first. When I run version 10 it shows the message that all the licenses are in use. When I install version 14, I can run version 14 without any problems, but when I open version 10 it gives me problems.

Version 10 asks for a recent or new project. I click on "New" and archicad begins loading, but when the interface is loaded, archicad 10 shutsdown without an error message.

I hope someone can explain me how to run multiple versions of archicad on Windows.

Thanks already!

Are you using a WIBU-key or Codemeter license?
Are you running a stand alone license or are you using a network license?

I am running anything from version 10 to 14 in Windows 7 with a WIBU-key license.
Using a stand alone key I can run as many different versions as I want at the same time.
With a network license then 10, 11 & 12 will all run as one licence but running 13 & 14 at the same time will use a second license.

Thanks for your reply Barry!
I am using a WIBU-Key with network license.

If I run 10 & 14, that will count as 1 license?

How do you explain that 10 is shutting down when I try to make a new project? Or do you know the right way how to install both of them?

10 & 14 will count as 2 licenses.
If you are using network licneses and they are all used up then this is why you won't be able to start another version.
Multiples of 10, 11 & 12 will all count as one licence.
Multiples of 13 & 14 will all count as one license.

It is only when you mix a 10, 11 or 12 with a 13 or 14 that you will need 2 licenses.
Oddly on a stand alone key this does not matter - you can open what ever you like.
Only affects network licenses.

I am not sure about your problem opening a 10 file.
If you can't open a "new" file can you open an existing one?

I haven't tried an existing one.

At the moment I was testing this I was using a USB WIBU-key directly connected to my pc, because I was unable to contact the networkserver.

I did the following:
- First installed 10
- Then installed 14 (because of the latest WIBU-driver)

-----------------
- Only installed 10
- removed the wibu-driver
- installed wibu-driver from 14

None of them seem to work..
How would you install the 2 versions?

Thanks again for your help!

I would just install 10 and then 14.
But I have done it the other way as well with no problems.
Take note that 10 won't run on a Vista or Windows 7 machine unless you run it in XP mode.
Even then there will be problems with OpenGL in 3d and publishing to PDF with the built in converter.

Thank you for your reply, I will try this again.

Won't there be any problems with the drivers for the wibu?

Certainly not if you install 10 then 14.
But I am sure I have done it the other way round without any problems either.

I am with the customer again and it won't work.

Maybe it's something with the networkserver for the wibu-keys.

I have installed version 10 and then version 14. When I run version 14 I get the error-message "Protection key not found or not valid. (230)".

When I start version 10, it just shutsdowns again with no error-message.

When I scan for WIBU-boxes, I also find no server on this client computer, I guess I have to start looking in this direction?

I hope you can give me some pointers where to search..

I can ping to server, so the client is located on the network.

Really appreciated!

The network server needs to have a fixed IP address and then you can add that address to the WIBU-key settings in Control Panel on the machine you are trying to work from.
