Windows Vista vs. XP Pro

We are about to buy a new office laptop and need to know if we should stick with XP or go with Vista. I have heard lots of problems with Vista and not sure how well it runs ArchitCAD 11?

Thoughts?

I would stick with XP Pro. I have also heard about problems with AC 10 and older. AC 11 is supposed to be OK with Vista but if you need to use any of the older versions you would be hooped.

I just bought a new laptop and am very happy with it. I think it's the kind that has the "X" thing in it and not the vista thingy. I'd stick with the X thing if I was you.....

Best O.S. for Archicad Is : WINDOWS 2003 SERVER ENTERPRISE
tweaked with settings not for servers but for workstations.
Greatest speed compared to XP an Vista ....without bells and whistles
but fast and responsive like a race car . It,s the best and mature operating system even you have a slow computer. It give you the chance to ad to your system more then 4 gb of ram (how much your motherboard support ) and is a 32 bit os not like xp 64 .

I am using XP32, Vista32 and Vista64 in VM and Boot Camp with no problems (at least not any more than is normally to be expected with Windows). I am also using very new hardware and software and totally clean installs; no legacy issues.

I do like some of the new features in Vista. For one it's not as butt-ugly as XP out of the box (I always reset XP to look like Win2K every time I install it). Probably by SP2 Vista will be the all around better choice (and probably the only one as stocks of XP are disappearing fast).
