Hmmm.....Well I would say the deal is decent. However, if it were me, I would probably go with a refurb 1 GHZ Powerbook. You can get one anywhere between $1500 and $1700. Check the Apple Store in the special deals section, Powermax, or Smalldog. Advantages: 1 year warranty - same as if you bought new. 64 meg video card. I think this is a huge plus, especially considering archicad, and whether you want to drive a second monitor (which is awesome with the powerbooks). Once you add in memory (check transintl.com). You will spend 300-500 more, but I think it's money well spent. My 2 cents.

Good luck.

unless the portable is a must for your situation, you might consider the G5. I used the same powerbook set up, with a Cinema display for about a year. I still have the powerbook, but now have a G5 for AC and would really hate to go back to the powerbook. The difference is that dramatic in speed. Just opening and closing files is much faster. Generating a sketch rendering dropped from 8 - 9 min to 1 1/2 - 2 min. I would much rather have the G5 and a much slower iBook for mics needs than not have the G5. My 2 cents:)
