A "Smart" roof label

I've searched this forum and can't find anything.

I want to make/get a label object that can be used in the following manner:

Click on a roof then click on the desired location for the label. The label needs to display the rise and run of the 'clicked on' roof.

Is this possible? and How?

In Australia the arrow points down the fall of the roof

Sorry, Nuge. I disagree. I think the indicator on the roof plan should point down the slope (i.e. fall). Where did you go to draughting school?

Nuge,
Based on the latest replies it looks like I should add a parameter to allow a change to the pointing direction. I'll set the default pointing down the slope and allow for an option to change the direction. Shouldn't be too hard...I look into it.

OK, here we go one more time. I think we have all the bases covered now. This version now allows the user to define the slope arrow direction UP or DOWN. I also added a parameter to allow a seperate color for the arrow head.

I hope everyone has been able to follow/download all the updates. This is the 4th time I've updated the object...The last couple of script tweaks have made it a pretty good tool. Hopefully it won't be necessary to do it again. Please let me know if you find this object helpful.

Have Fun!

Some improvements to roof label accessory. Real text hight size on drawings in 'mm'. Degrees options is now absolute value 'ABS".

Best regards

Pawel,
That's great...thanks for the improvements. I guess the text in "mm" makes better sense for all the metric users. In the US we use points "pt" for text...I 've always been aggravated that we don't have a good straightforward way to script for point text in objects

Do you have any suggestions for scripting text in point values?

Hi Nuge,

A slope does indeed go both up and down, but you (at least I and others here in my office) indicate the slope of a roof in the downward direction (fall).
Also, always show stairs going up, but that's another argument...

Cheers
