Crashes migrating to AC12

I just experience alot of crashes of AC12 and found out the reason and I thought others may be interested. It is essential to load the ArchiCAC 11 migration library when bringing older projects, and library parts, across to AC12.

It is hoped this may be of help. The crashes were up to 20 times a day!

Also be sure to convert any older (pre-AC12) custom objects to AC12 format.

David,

Can you please elaborate on converting library parts to AC12? Does that mean the parts have to come out of the AC12 libraries and not previous libraries?

Sometimes working on a project even with the AC11 migrating library added the parts say they are not converted properly. Sometimes they work and sometimes they dont?

Thanks,

You will know if the project has any pre-AC12 objects loaded when ArchiCAD 12 alerts you to "convert" the older objects to AC12.

Conversion to AC12 format refers to adding/assigning each object to the desired/correct AC12 object sub-type. If you let AC12 automatically convert the objects, the parts will be assigned to generic sub-types that will work in a "pinch", but I would suggest manually converting each part.

If you work with older .LCF files (pre-AC12) as Libraries, you will notice SLOW loading because AC has to open and read each of the older (pre-AC12) objects within the .LCF during the initial load.
