D openings not showing up in Elevation

I was getting inconsistent results with the "D SemiArch Opening 10" some time ago and had assumed I was doing something wrong at the time.

Now, after further exploration, it seems that four out of the six D Openings (Arch, SemiArch, Horseshoe and Ogee-Centered) are not correctly seen in elevation when viewed from one side but okay from the opposite side! Gothic and Saracenic, on the other hand show up correctly whichever way you look at them.

My library and AC are up to date and I've taken default values for making the screenshots (with a default template). Has anyone else faced this problem? It's probably something in the 3D script but I'm still a bit too raw at GDL to attempt a correction.

If it's any help, when the outlines don't show in elevation, neither do the hotspots.

Hello v i s t a s p,
I have inserted an instance of each one of those openings
in a wall and they display with no problem. I am using
the US version of application and the library. I tried
mirroring an opening about it's own centerline, putting
two instances of the same opening in the same position, etc,
but could not reproduce what you are seeing.

Thanks for trying Peter. I think the IND library is the same as the INT one so maybe the error hasn't crept into the US library? As far as I recall, AC9 didn't give me this problem.

Hi Vistasp,

I'm experiencing the same problem here. I'm using INT version of the library, with the latest update.

So it's not just me then... Thanks Adrian, I was beginning to wonder. 😉

Ogee and Horseshoe are probably rarely used but Arch and SemiArch must be common. Has anybody with the INT library located the bug in the 3D script? Would love to learn what is wrong.

Hi Vistasp,

The problem seems to be the status code for the wallniches.
I've just changed "2+16" to "1+2+8+16+32+64+128".
It seems ok now...
BTW... I also turned of the edge of the base arch in the gotic one...
IMO it shouldn't be visible... But if you want it I can turn it on.
Hope it helps.

Hey thanks Paulo, not just for the updated objects but also for explaining what exactly was wrong with them. Will try them out once the weekend is over.

EDIT:
Ok, the weekend is over and I'm back like a bad penny.

Paulo, I tried reading up on status codes and while most of it still goes over my head, I thought "1+2+8+16+32+64+128" looked a bit extreme. Experimented a bit and found that "2+8+16" works equally well.

What I'm still unable to understand is why gothic and saracenic look okay with just "2+16" whereas the rest need to have the extra "8".

Awaiting enlightenment.

Cheers!

I always turn on all the status when there is something wrong in a code...
But you are right.... It works just with 2+8+16 !...
Now, and by the fact that you mention it works in some objects with just 2+16, I start to think that its due to some wrong mask code in the wallniches...
I can see some weird mask codes like 15+49 or something...
Unfortunately I'm a little busy at the moment, but by the end of the week I'll have a look at it...
At least it is working, right?

Paulo you're absolutely right! The problem lay in the mask codes. I think they've been sorted out now (see attachment) but could you please check when you get some time?

BTW, most of them just required a "+16" to make them work.

Thanks once again for all your help.
