Get a drop-down list of objects like images

Is it possible to get a dropdown list of objects in your library to pick from? Similar to choosing from a list of images?

Like a query for every file of a certain format in your loaded libraries. That sounds pretty useful.

Where do you want this list?
From within another object? - what would be the purpose of that?
In the object settings? - you can choose between list, medium or large icons already in the settings button.
When opening an object for editing? - the browser is a list already?
